With Susan Slusser reporting that Billy Beane might take an offer from the Cubs, in part because of his frustration with the ongoing Selig foot-dragging (Slusser doesn't call out Selig by name, but we all know that these things happen at his pace) on a new A's stadium, we can ask how this will affect the A's and we can ask how this will affect this very website.
One of these questions is important. One of these questions is answerable. Unfortunately, the important question is not the answerable one. Nobody that I know has any idea how much work Beane is doing in the front office as opposed to David Forst, what his proclivities are that Forst might not have, etc. etc. We can say almost nothing, in other words, about what will happen to the A's if the team is solid and/or if Beane becomes a Cub.
We can, on the other hand, say that (and this is big!) this website will never change its name. I want to put all your minds at ease. Beaneball is going nowhere. We're not going to become Forstball. We would not, were new A's owners to lose their minds, become Minayaball or Collettiball. Billy Beane could become the Angels' general manager and I'm not changing the site name.
There. Aren't you relieved?
