The A's sent down Jordan Norberto and Bruce Billings and called up Josh Outman and Jerry Blevins. This transaction matters not a whit, and has likely been made entirely because Billings and Norberto threw 57 and 38 pitches in yesterday's Yankee blowout. With the A's going into a Saturday doubleheader (caused by Hurricane Irene bearing down on the East Coast -- stay safe, friends!), I'm sure they want a full bullpen.
It probably doesn't help that Jordan Norberto can't throw a strike.
Graham Godfrey is apparently going to be Saturday's other starter, but a move hasn't been made for him yet. I wonder if Outman will go down between doubleheader games (i.e. he's there to pitch in game one and is optioned back to Sacramento after game one, with Godfrey called up to start game two), or if they'll make some other move?
Either way, as Raj Dhillon points out on Twitter, neither of these guys is Joey Devine. It's unclear to both of us why the A's seem to dislike the guy so much.
