I see in today's ATM Report that Bobby Kielty had knee surgery and will thus be out for three to six weeks. He's not the kind of player who's going to be hurt by a loss of speed or anything, and a three-to-sixer doesn't sound like it was all that serious in the first place. It does mean that he's probably not going to make it back for Opening Day, which sounds a lot to me like Shannon Stewart is the A's left fielder come the regular season.
I'm still rooting for Dan Johnson to make a real push to be the first baseman, putting Swisher back into the outfield, which would consequently push Stewart and Kielty to the bench. I'm not convinced that either Stewart or Kielty will outhit Johnson, but I'm also not convinced that Johnson will outhit those two - basically, I have a real fear that all three are going to be next to worthless this year.
