Micah Owings as a pinch-hitter

The Cincinnati announcers on the Mets-Reds game (I'm watching on mlb.tv, which really is a very good service, at least in my limited experience) are in a state of agitation over the fact that Micah Owings is the best right-handed pinch hitter that Dusty Baker has available. "This doesn't really say good things about the Reds' lineup" is basically what they're saying.
But I say: having a guy with a career triple-slash of .319/.355/.552 available as a right-handed pinch-hitter says bad things? Really? That's a 900 OPS! Yeah, Owings is a hacker, but that line is basically Vlad Guerrero in 2008. You're upset with that guy pinch-hitting? Do you know anything about baseball?
